The Cupertino gold rush

Wow, iPhone apps are selling like hot cakes. As the Tap Tap Tap peeps point out, iPhone apps are the Cupertino gold rush of 2008. Tap Tap Tap has sold over $10,000 worth of their apps in less than 2 weeks. Another developer, Eliza Block, has been making close to $2000 a day. What do these two have in common? First, they’ve made really useful apps. Eliza’s is a kick-ass crossword puzzle app that aggregates puzzles from well-known sources (gotta love the business opportunituies in aggregation). The Tapsters’ top seller is a location-aware app that helps you find local businesses. The second commonality is that they both have fantastic user interfaces. For instance, I’m drooling over the Where To start screen. I love that developers are making money right out of the gate; this is just the start of something huge.
