How 3 youths in Spain influence the NBA

The Wall Street Journal has a great article about three young guys from Spain who are behind Hoopshype.com, one of the most influential NBA news sites. What you get from the article is that they really do know the game, even though they haven’t been to many games in person. They scour the web for news stories, and they’ve built a long list of sources they can ping for new stories, and to verify rumors they find on the web. They also figured out how to make the right partnerships to make money. What I love is what the article points out prominently: these are three guys in Spain who’ve built a huge influence with fans, agents, players, and teams in a professional sports league on a different continent; and they’ve done this working from an apartment. The point is, the web has forever changed the game, and a small team with a passionate approach knows no geographical boundaries.
