Manga - future of all copyright and media ;)

Wired has a shockingly good piece about the history of Manga and its portent for all copyright and media. This article is really about how fans are remixing Manga, and how that has probably lead to more sales of the official versions. I say probably because it sounds like the jury is still out on exactly how much the remixes are helping the source product. It looks good for now though. The point is that American corporations (just like Japanese Manga corps used to) would rather sue remixers and fan artists into non existence than allow them to spin their stories and thrive. The success of the Manga Industrial Complex is revealing that this is, in effect, just blind greed and is not the way to go. In fact, it looks like embracing the read/write culture is one of the few sure ways that every content publisher can thrive and gain a competitive edge. Fascinating stuff!
