Startups awash in dollars - is that good or bad?

This New York Times article on the rising, seemingly-nonsensical valuations of web startups wants to be alarmist, but it can’t help but be optimistic in the end. I guess it all comes down to the fact that this time around, both the users and the advertisers are online and participating. So don’t expect this new dot-com “bubble” to burst. After you realize that starting a startup has never been cheaper, that your web apps can be built to spread themselves virally, and that there are advertisers ready to float your boat, you can’t help but be exuberant about the current startup environment. In conclusion, startups awash in dollars because investors are fighting to be on your team is a very good thing indeed.
