Goyard - fashion without marketing
I’m deeply interested in how any company can spend nothing on advertising and still spread the word and make great money. A social networking site like MySpace is probably the best example of how to spread the word without marketing, but there are examples in the offline world as well. Tim Manners summarizes a Wall Street Journal report on Goyard, a high-end fashion brand that you probably have never heard of. Goyard spends nothing on advertising, and yet their “29 percent operating margin is one of the highest among luxury-goods brands.” Their secret sauce? Great design, personalization, and rarity. Go check it out.
