For lack of a better term, “de-portalization” is a very important trend that should be considered carefully. In fact, understanding the implications of this trend could mean the difference between your startup being successful and not. To be clear, I rank its importance right up there with discoveries like the importance of blogging for business, the fact that blogs can now make great money off of pageviews, and the realization that social networking is the greatest viral marketing tool of all time (and is far from being “done”).
