Slim Devices are good
Liz Gannes of GigaOM paints a nice portrait of Slim Devices, a small but growing network audio device startup. Their first brilliant move was hiring an industrial designer to help them come up with a stunning device design. Next, they brilliantly open-sourced their music streaming software, making it hackable for all those music loving geeks out there. Indeed, this open-source approach is a crucial weapon in their arsenal. As Slim chief technology officer Dean Blackketter told Business 2.0 magazine, “The more we open up to our community … the more it helps us.” And to boot, “Slim Devices is profitable on a sliver of seed funding, and set to do $10 million in sales this year.”
