Yahoo’s brilliant developer strategy
I just found out via Techcrunch that Yahoo is holding a “hack day” on Friday, September 29, 2006 and that it is open to all developers, not just those at Yahoo. Here’s what Mike says: “Yahoo will open up its Sunnyvale headquarters to all developers for a 24 hour Hack Day, followed by a really cool party on Saturday night. If you are a developer, and have an idea for a cool one-day hack project, this will definitely be a fun event for you. We are working with Yahoo on this event, and my official duties include ‘presiding over the festivities’.” Do you realize what a brilliant strategy this is? This is Yahoo’s answer to Google’s Summer of Code program. This is what breeds love and gets the attention of the best developers. Good job Yahoo!
